MRS. LYNDSEY SCHAEFER

This year will be my fourth year teaching music at LBS. I have many years of experience in music education prior to my time at LBS as well. I received my Bachelor of Music degree specializing in voice from The College of New Jersey in 2004. The following fall, I began my teaching experience in Bernards Township as Cedar Hill School's General/Choral Music Teacher. In 2013, I was honored to receive the Governor's Award for "Teacher of the Year" while in this position. I have also been nominated for the Grammy's Music Educator Award. In 2016, I became the Strings Teacher for both Cedar Hill and Liberty Corner Schools. I also created the Cedar Hill Drama Club and produced a spring musical each year since its creation. During this time, I also served as Music Director for the spring musical at Ridge High School from 2011-2019. Outside of Bernards Township, I also have been teaching private voice lessons since 2003 and run a Summer Musical Theatre Intensive Camp through my private company, Fine Tuned Performing Arts. As a guest teacher, I have also musically directed shows and taught master classes at various performing arts schools in NJ and PA.

When I am not teaching, I am also a professional singer/actress. I have performed in countless musical theatre productions locally, regionally and on tour. Some of my favorite roles include Christine Daaé in Phantom, Lily in The Secret Garden, Mary Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life, Beth in Little Women, Laurey in Oklahoma, Johanna in Sweeney Todd and Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz for which I was awarded "Best Actress in a Musical” for New Jersey’s 2010-2011 professional theatre season. I also had the honor of being one of only four original cast members in Ruth Fost's Alice in Wonderland tour. Outside of theatre, I have been hired as a studio musician to record demos for new musicals and also for songwriters to record their new music. As a child, I had the honor of singing in Avery Fischer Hall in Lincoln Center which was certainly a memorable and inspiring experience.
