GENERAL MUSIC & BAND TEACHER

2021-2022 HOURS:

Tuesdays 9:20-3:15, Wednesdays 9:20-2:40, & Thursdays 9:20-3:15 (Mondays and Fridays- not in the building)

*General Music classes meet once per week for 40 minutes.  Small group band lessons are held for 30 minutes once per week plus a 40-minute full band rehearsal.

MUSIC PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The music program enables students to acquire the knowledge and skills that increase their aesthetic awareness and appreciation of music as an art form. The curriculum provides each student the opportunity to demonstrate technical skills and artistic expression in performing a wide range of musical styles.

General music classes focus on literacy, vocabulary, history, music appreciation, expression through music, and the personal enjoyment of music. In order to cover these topics, students will sing, play instruments, compose, play musical games, listen to and describe musical selections, and learn about music from various styles, countries, and eras. The lessons will provide experiences that are meaningful and relevant to the students and the school community.
